Methods in Abstraction

REGISTRATION OPENS 9/1 AT 9AM EST.

What does it mean to work in an abstract manner? How does it feel? What does it look like? The term ‘abstraction’ is used widely across many styles in the art world The goal of this class is not to work in a style, but rather to find your unique way of translating your gestures into an abstract composition.

This workshop offers a number of different exercises that will introduce abstraction with ease. Each prompt is inclusive of any materials the artist has on hand, will provide tangible tools and methodologies for a healthy studio practice, and encourage playfulness in art making. By the end of the workshop, the artists will create several studies which could be used for a larger painting.
